Quote
We just received a press release from Mezco Toyz. They have announced a new line of killer looking, highly articulated 6″ figures. They will be known as the One:12 Collective. and will combine over 32 points of articulation with real cloth outfits and meant to echo the style and details of 1/6 scale figures, but at a more reasonable size. The figures will include display bases and accessories.

Current licenses signed up for the One:12 Collective are DC Universe, Judge Dredd, Classic Universal Monsters, and a few more that haven’t been named just yet. The first figure revealed is “The Dark Knight Returns” Batman, which will be fully revealed at San Diego Comic-Con. The figure is an amazing looking representation of Frank Miller’s iconic take on Batman. It will come in black and gray or blue and gray costumes.

Mezco was kind enough to send along some fantastic shots of Batman. You can see them (right click and “View Image” or save to see full size), and the full press release, after the jump. Be sure to check back in a few days to see our coverage of Mezco at SDCC.

Mezco Reveals The One:12 Collective

New York- (July 22nd, 2014)- Mezco Toyz today announced The One:12 Collective, a new line of high end 6″ scale collectable figures.

Redesigning the 6″ scale figure category by combining posable action figures with real cloth outfitting, in a similar fashion to the 1/6th scale and larger collectables. Mezco’s One:12 Collective line will present a multitude of different characters from numerous brands.

Combining superior sculpting with an abundance of articulation, the One:12 Collective figures feature over 32 points of articulation, capable of over 40,000 possible poses: combining form and function to create a remarkably realistic aesthetic. Digitally sculpted by the industry’s finest artists and painstakingly engineered by Mezco’s production team is a state of the art collectable that holds up to real play.
The costuming is meticulously tailored and uses specially selected materials to create the highest standard of outfitting and drapery at the 6″ scale. Fabrication, color, drapery, comparative scale and mobility are all closely considered to bring the finest attire achievable.

Every One:12 Collective figure will include a display base as well as a multitude of accessories. These accessories are designed to have a “real world” look to further make the figure seem like it has truly come to life. These accessories, also precisely crafted, range from changeable parts to character specific weapons, equipment and props.

Currently planned for the One:12 Collective are characters from The DC Universe, Judge Dredd, Classic Universal Monsters, and some other surprises to be announced in the future.

Mezco President, Mez Markowitz declared “We are all very excited with the One:12 Collective line. I think we are offering a fantastic product that both satisfies the customers desire for articulation as well as the ability to hide it all in a extremely realistic way. Another great aspect to the line is that we are striving to present high quality product that is in line with 1/6th scale (12″ figure) collectables while taking up far less display space and at a much more reasonable price point. Our Dark Knight Returns Batman figure is really a fantastic piece and we cannot wait to show what is up next. Mezco plans on releasing several items a year from this line and it is a long term initiative for our team, really a dream come true for all of us here.”

The One:12 Collective “The Dark Knight Returns” Batman figure is set to be publicly revealed at San Diego Comic Con at Mezco booth # 3445 and shipping to customers in Fall 2014.

Think I gotta pass.  50 bucks (my guess) for a six inch figure is too much.  Cloth costumes will end up looking like shit quicker than plastic too.

Holy Shit, Batman!

Based on those pics, I'm definitely down for the DKR figure. Just. Wow.

Damn.  This definitely looks interesting.  Probably $alty as hell, but very fascinating to follow.  I would looooove to see a 70s era BATMAN and ROBIN.

Hmmm....MEZCO doing DC....I wonder if they would be interested in doing a 4" line?  Probably not, but who in blazes would have ever expected this??

Mezco has always been of the highest quality. The figure looks very good, I am just not interested in this version of the character.

This is a really interesting idea.

There's a hole in the market that's getting bigger and bigger as companies like Mattel and Hasbro slowly abandon the 6" scale.

I'm really keen to see what they can do here.

Yeah, but they also did the Breaking Bad figures...

Not familiar with them, what are the issues?

The Hellboy figures were fucking amazing.

Gonna be very price point dependent for me.  Would love to have the DKR Bats and Dredd (movie Dredd, maybe?) and Universal stuff is always welcome, but I'm even more leery than ever of spending much money on toys.

Me too, but it looks interesting.

I think this is the future of collecting. Standard 6" figure lines like DCUC and ML go two ways, the first is towards Titan Hero type crap, the second is to cheaper versions of Hot Toys high end stuff like this.

Very interested in getting one of these in hand. I'm feeling a $40-50 price range for these, so I wouldn't jump the gun on ordering more than one at first, but I could potentially grab a couple of these. I love Frank Miller's Batman designs (his DCD Black & White statue is my favorite from the line!), so I'll certainly give one of these a try.

And the face sculpt on these is way nicer than the one on Mattel's Batman Legacy figure.

$80 isn't unreasonable when you consider what their 12" cousins go for.

Maybe not.  But it still leaves me out.  Financially and aesthetically.  I have no desire to pay that pricepoint for another Batman, nor to perform the upkeep on cloth costumes.  I'm old enough to have had the original Megos.  Cloth costumes can be a nightmare.

Post by: Gardner Grayle on August 09, 2014, 07:59:21 pm
I'm not.  I still want six inch action figures.  I just want something different.  Fuck Marvel and DC.  Something we can get in on at the ground floor.  Why can't someone do something with indie comic characters distributed through Diamond?  And no.  This isn't a Dynamite tirade.  I'm speaking in the most general of terms.  Dark Horse, Image, IDW, Dynamite, Boom, fucking anyone really.  Fuck it, at this point I'd buy Astro City figures from DCC.  Just make 'em great.

I'm still pissed/disappointed that LCBH melted down six years ago.

I hear ya, GARD.

Personally, I want a line of generic warriors featuring Ninjas, Vikings, Barbarians, Medieval Warriors, Robin Hood types, Cowboys, Indians, and maybe even 20th century soldiers.

Obviously, I'd love some INDY characters, but I probably have a better chance at nailing Chloe Kardashian, who I actually do want to nail.

And it could never happen, but I would totally love a line of generic Super Heroes and Villains:  A line featuring garish costumes, completely new names, and characters that have never before existed!  That would be fun!

I've often wondered why this has never happened? Busiek has been with DC for a while and there's a fanbase for the comics. It's odd?

Also, Astro City is one of my fave favourite comics at the moment. Busiek always delivers.

I think the answer is probably fairly simple:

A) They don't think there's enough of a fanbase to support merchandise.

B) Kurt (and Brent and Alex) would get a cut.  Wiping out any profits.  Pretty sad.

I'm assuming these overpriced things are gonna only be online! Man prices are putting me off of collecting any lines. Neca got too pricey for their dodgy qc, DC and motuc went online only and marvel legends will assuredly cross the 20 buck price point no doubt soon and there goes that line. Nothin but greed as the cause too...anyone wanna buy a whole collection of various toys haha

Had to dig for this one, lol. Anybody else get any of these? Moon Knight should be here tomorrow & he makes #2. First is the PX Sovereign Knight. Not quite a classic yellow oval Bats, but I dig it. Same with Moon Knight. Can't afford too many of these, but managed to snare my 2 favorite heroes (in my favorite costumes) from DC & Marvel. I'm at 50/50 on Gambit, & probably on WW. I would like to get the trinity, & maybe eventually the Big 7. I'd love to see classic Thor & Hawkman  at Toy Fair.  O0

I got Blade, and I ordered Frazetta Conan, Morbius and Ghost Rider. This is a line which you have to be real selective of what you get because they are so pricey.
