Title: Manglors Manglord
Post by: manofathousandfigures on March 23, 2015, 03:22:16 pm
Hi all,
Some of you might remember this guy. It was made by Ideal Toys in 1982. The figure was advertised that it was made of a material you could stretch and pull the limbs off, then reattach them. Although this was probably one of the best ideas for a figure. That's all it was, an idea. The concept did not work. The limbs would reattach, but the area was never the same. Anyway, to a kid or an adult for that matter, ;D how awesome was it to think you had a figure made from some unknown material. Also, that it could heal itself. They had other figures in this line, including a Manglord play set. However, the Manglord figure that came with the set did not have the same paint job as the one sold individually had. In my opinion, this one was the best out of the line. Mine is still sealed in the original packaging.

I've never heard of it!! Very cool though. That artwork reminds me of Boris Vallejo.

I don't think the line lasted long. Probably because the toy did not do what they claimed.

Could you tear his head off and reattach it? ;D

Cool stuff.  I remember the name, but didn't remember the gimmick.

I remember the ads. And finding a whole display of them around the age of four, and they were opened, and destroyed.

I remember thinking even then, that they weren't as advertised.
