This film is directed by Neil Marshall. I've never seen anything of his I didn't like.

If you need a warm up, go watch 'Dog Soldiers' or 'The Descent'.

All I can think is that Spinmasters can't do a worse job compared to Mattel's current efforts.

My girl's are stoked for this after seeing the second trailer.

Marvel is doing it right, the kids love Capt Marvel and Spider-Gwen (Ghost Spider)

Most people saying movies are driving the comics probably don't even read comics.

Think about the most significant changes to Marvel in the last few years.....Kamala Khan as the new Ms Marvel, Amadeus Cho as new Hulk, Miles/Spidey coming over to 616, X-23 stepping up as the new Wolverine, a female Thor, Riri as Ironheart, Moonknight changing things up as Mr Knight, Cap having his history rewritten by the Red Skull and a sentient Cosmic Cube to imply he's been an agent of Hydra all along, Spider-Gwen, Gwenpool, Honey Badger, Cosmic Ghost Rider, all the Spider totems like Spider-Ham, etc.

Yep, movies are a huge influence on Marvel's direction.

Just picked up Black Knight at Wal-Mart from the mostly film Avengers wave. Not sure how he got the nod, but he's definitely the bright spot. I didn't see Malekith (Dark Elf), but I'd be tempted if I did. Ant-Man and Wasp were there as well (movie versions), but no interest in either.

The Dan Garrett head is a huge win.
6  General Geekery - The Comics, Films and more that inspire the Toys we love! / The Geek Boy and Girl's Vale of Visual Amusement / Re: Aquaman on: December 30, 2018, 01:24:44 am
Yeah, it's the definition of a popcorn movie. I just wish they wouldn't take 80% of the movie to finally get him in a comic accurate(ish) costume.

The lack of identifying elements from the comics makes it hard for me to really buy into what I'm watching. For example, when he's fighting Black Manta on top of the buildings, it's not Aquaman to me, just Momoa in some civvies having a fight.

I'd still like to see the Pulp Heroes get a go in 6" scale. At this point I think Mezco 1:12 is my best chance seeing as how they're doing a Popeye.

Let's see how diversity goes with this one.

So this Mystique image is doing the rounds https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcThWUNOLdcg3ONy48RcjBxNuI1t6fc-Kijw2TZRhZ-8R9DnTHbeeA

Rumours galore, but if I had to guess I'd say a Deathbird in an upcoming wave. Grab a spare and you can use the Lilandra head. The other option people have mentioned is Lilandra with a non-helmeted head.

Disney must own all the things

Ray and Vixen for the win. Glad I don't want either of those C&Cs.

Anyone got a Clayface C&C they wanna sell?
12  The Collector's Life / The Pegs / Re: Marvel Legends - Discussion thread on: November 28, 2018, 05:45:01 pm
I really like that list above. Silver Samurai is probably on everone's list, but is tooling cost prohibitive.
I'm surprised that they haven't managed Executioner. I'd take him over Cull Obsidian/Black Dwarf.

Count Nefaria's only chance is ti fill that one "vintage spot" that seems to appear in a wave. The Batroc, Blizzard slot, etc.  Cheesy
Is there an existing head they could use? I can't think of one.
13  The Collector's Life / The Pegs / Re: Marvel Legends - Discussion thread on: November 27, 2018, 03:27:50 pm
I can't be arsed even voting. Prodigy nailed it with the first sentence though.
I feel like I'm constantly at odds with the X-Men Animated Series generation who can't wait to get the version of Storm because the three we've had aren't from the carton. Uggh.

My list is pretty much what I posted a page or so back.

Jack of Hearts!

Please finish off teams like Alpha Flight, New Mutants, Inhumans, Defenders, Squadron Supreme, X-Factor, Junior X-Men (Anole, Rockslide, Dust, Armor, Ide), etc.
Please start teams like The Starjammers, Imperial Guard, etc.
Please round out the cosmic gang like Moondragon, Phylla-Vell and Quasar!!

I'd really like to see more classic villains. Stilt Man. Mr Hyde, The Owl, Black Tom, Gladiator (sawblade).

Given they managed to pull-off the BAF of the year in Sauron, I'd love to see something like that done with Griffon, Stegron, etc.

Immortal Hulk is my favourite comic right now. Al Ewing is doing a great job!

I'm digging it. So much potential.
