1  The Collector's Life / The Pegs / Re: The DC/McFarlane thread. on: April 03, 2019, 12:24:43 am
As a comic fan I'm keen to see how much Todd pushes against the decisions of DC. I wonder if he'll be working with good people who can see beyond the big three over and over again?

I just want them to be them. This changing costumes every movie, etc, annoys me. I know it's to do with marketing, but we see these guys for 120 minutes every few years. Just give me the characters I grew up with.

Ronin in the new film just looks like a guy on his way to the snow to do some boarding.

Mar-Vell rebelled from the Kree, IIRC.  And the Supreme Intelligence was always a dick.  Ronan was always played with a sense of nobility though.

Yeah, the SI was always so high and mighty, almost supreme!! A same they couldn't have somehow worked his comic book look into the film, but Hollywood do make everything better  Roll Eyes

The blurb for the ep does mention a "freak" blizzard. But then the closest I get to snow in winter is a slushy from the convenience store.

I did like the frozen walkers, especially the one stuck in the pond.

Judith running off like that annoys me. Bloody kids.

But yeah, no cliffhanger there at all. As bad as they want Alpha to be, she's not worse than the Governor or Negan at their peak. I'd like to see Alpha and Negan face off since he doesn't show fear of any kind.

I cant find anyone willing to give me head.

Married, huh?

 Cheesy

Even if I get head, I'll still need more head.

While no one seems to want Grey Gargoyle his BAF piece doesn't seem to lack interest.

Picked up Nighthawk last night. The wings on his cowl are only painted on, but I guess the cape ate up all of the production costs. The rest of that wave, however, is very meh. Okay, Hercules looks great, but I would have preferred an update on his classic look over the new duds. I've never seen this version of Living Laser, in a comic book but have to admit that it pops on the shelf.

I'm grateful for Nighthawk and Living Laser, but man is it gonna be a long wait between drinks if we're doing one classic figure every second wave. The dream of a single wave featuring The Wizard, Trapster, Controller, Psycho Man, Diablo, Chemistro, etc, etc, is long gone.

She's perfect for Sersi.

No, she's not perfect for anything.  Angry

....and where's my goddamn Moon Knight film?

I think good isn't what they were going for.  Like most war movies, it was an anti-war movie.  In this case one group on one of the sides was tired of war.  Talos admitted he wasn't a good person.

Hence the 'good guys'.  They are certainly in this movie meant to be more sympathetic, though.  My impression (again, as someone not familiar with the storyline in the comics) has always been the Skrulls were viewed as the 'bad guys' by the Marvel heroes.

Both Kree and Skrulls have always been villains, the former through force, the latter through subversion.

So I opened up the latest Spidey wave over the weekend.  I love, love, love Night Thrasher, but 12 year old me was disappointed that the skateboard doesn't attach to his left arm as a shield with a retractable blade and he didn't have a pop-out single blade on his right hand.  As a kid when I was mentally designing his figure those were key selling points.

6-arm Spidey was a disappointment in sculpt and lack of paint apps, but everything else about this was was lovely.

 Cheesy

Yeah, those kind of features are sadly lacking. With the cutting of corners I'm surprised figs like Daredevil had a place to put his clubs.

I'm slowly assembling my Kree Sentry platoon. I cant find anyone willing to give me head.

The Skrull twist was poor.

Two to go. Will-o-the-wisp would be an easy custom.

Every person on FB who comments about having seen it says it's fun.

I figured last night was coming (due to the action figure line) but damn. That was a little brutal.

Fort those not keeping count as quickly as the camera panned.....*spoilers*

I'm pretty happy with this. I know I'm never getting comic accurate waves anymore so seeing Hasblo get Silver Samurai out one way or another shows they're trying.
Hydro-Man for the win!

Drawing out the whole Maggie vs Michonne thing is tiring. This show doesn't resemble even two or three seasons ago now. The few characters I care about are spread out across the land.
What made Darryl cool, was the connections he had with so many other characters like Carol and Rick. They're either elsewhere or "dead" so it's hard to care about him and the 'Leader' role doesn't fit him at all.

Jesus never really got to do anything cool like in the comics.

One of the nicest people you will ever meet.

Yeah, I found him to be one of the nicest creators I've ever met. He's fought hard against his ongoing illnesses, sad, but what a legacy he leaves.
