Nice Haul!

I think Tyrion's line of "It must have been a decent compromise because nobody was happy"  (paraphrased) is probably an indication of how the writers felt. about this season. They were written into a corner a bit with no clear cut way out.

I liked this ending. They gave almost everybody that lived a path they either were good at or wanted.

Before the internet breaks, I’d like to go on record and say I’m just fine with this season including the finale.  I’m not even opposed to some follow up movies after a suitable period of time.  I kinda think that might be where they left us on purpose.

There were more survivors than I expected and a somewhat happier ending than I was prepared for.  The whole Bran deal was a nice touch.

I'm in the same place as you. Except I kind of wanted Grey Worm to die. Very Star Trek IV ending for Jon

I...uh...hmmm.

Why did she go from Breaker of Chains to Burner of innocents?

Well, throughout the entire show, her first instinct is almost always to punish those that piss her off.  Fire and Blood are the words of House Targaryen, and that's what she promised the city of Qarth for not letting her in the city, the "Great" Masters of the Slaver's Bay, etc.  He had to have people like Ser Jorah, Ser Barristan, and Tyrion to talk her down from extremes many times.

Very true.  Looking back at eight seasons, Dany almost always led it her absolute worst instinct.  She was different after the death of Drogo and their child.  And she changed again after she killed the rest of the horse lords.  Mel’s death and Jon’s rejection made her snap.  Now there’s nothing between her and Winterfell to exact her final revenge on one of the only people to challenge her, Sansa.  Don’t think Tyrion can talk her down either.

I didn’t see any of this coming.  And I called Heroes in Crisis five months ago.   Wink

Bronn is almost fresh out of Lannisters.   Grin

I get it, but it seemed none of her targets previously had been civilians. I know she had rationalized it in her head, but damn. Once she was through the gate why not just head right to the castle?

He did say he wanted a larger castle.

In the past couple weeks, I've managed to snag most of the Kingpin wave, Studio Series Optimus Prime $13 & that bigass T-rex for $25. T-rex is still listed on Wal-Mart.com if anybody's interested.

Nice!

TV is a more passive form of entertainment.  Going to a movie is proactive.  Watching TV can be done at home and somewhat passively while doing other things.  AMC is just filling up hours on their grid.  Seemingly thinking ratings will come with anything branded “Walking Dead”.

I meant more that it is possible to over saturate folks with something they like. I have to think planning more than one movie would be risky until they know how it is received. and if it makes any money.

Can’t link on my iPhone.  It’s all over the internet.  AMC has greenlit a third WD series for 10 eps starting in 2020.  Ugh.  Add in Ricks movies and the rumor of Maggie movies and this is a royal goat fuck.

The CW strategy seems to be spreading.

I saw this earlier. Did they learn nothing from Disney and Star Wars?

The blurb for the ep does mention a "freak" blizzard. But then the closest I get to snow in winter is a slushy from the convenience store.

I did like the frozen walkers, especially the one stuck in the pond.

Judith running off like that annoys me. Bloody kids.

But yeah, no cliffhanger there at all. As bad as they want Alpha to be, she's not worse than the Governor or Negan at their peak. I'd like to see Alpha and Negan face off since he doesn't show fear of any kind.

I live in Virginia.  It rarely snows like that.

Thank you for the confirmation!

Negan more likely to die from pneumonia being out in that storm without a hat or gloves.

Even without a fire that house would have kept them alive overnight. They could have set out during a much safer daylight.

Also, why was the walker in front of Alexandria frozen to a liquid nitrogen point but the river ones weren't after being under snow?

That had to be the most low key season finale that show has had.

I will say that while cool visually, the winter scenes did not seem to be written by folks that have lived in a region with an actual winter. You don't normally go from no snow to arctic level blizzard overnight. Normally, least in my experience the cold that accompanies snow is not normally sub-zero kill people overnight kind. You get down to about 0 F and it really doesn't snow. As long as they were sheltered from the wind chill they should have been fine.

I looked it up and Alexandria, VA has an average snowfall per yer of 25". That kind of storm would not be even close to normal.

I also would have expected the walkers to have been slowed quite a bit.

I figured last night was coming (due to the action figure line) but damn. That was a little brutal.

Fort those not keeping count as quickly as the camera panned.....*spoilers*

Tara.

Enid.
Tammy Rose (Blacksmith's wife)
Ozzy (Leader of The Highwaymen....and in an inside joke played by an Aussie)
Alek (Highwayman)
DJ (formerly a Saviour)
Addy (Teen Chick from Hilltop)
Rodney (Teen Guy from Hilltop)
Frankie (One of Negan's wives who befriended Eugene)

I honestly thought two things. Because she was walking with Ezekiel I really expected him there.

I also wondered during the episode if they would flip the script and take out Carol/Daryl/Michone and that group and put them on spits.

Mrs Nerd was a bit mad at me when she found out I suspected that was coming up and didn't tell her.
