Well, hey! I popped in here for the first time in a few blue moons to see what you folks were saying about Icons, and was welcomed with a name-check from Mike himself! Sweet.
So, this is the first offering from DCD/C I've been excited about since Brightest Day's Mera figure. The accessories alone looked awesome-- Kelex, mini-Atoms, updated cosmic Treadmill, even a rubber chicken, etc., that I was in for the figures that came with that. Now that I know that these are going to be a proper 6-inch scale and not six-point-whatever, that makes me even happier.
Clearly DCC has seen the collecting vacuum left by DCUC's implosion, and are rising to the challenge of filling it. Whether they do remains to be seen, but I appreciate the attempt. Based on the interviews I've seen at AFI and TNI, they're making sincere efforts to improve the perennial breakage problems, as well as aiming to please with the value-add of the accessories. Jim Fletcher and Co. seem far less tone-deaf to fan interest than we've come to expect with DCD/C previously.
Of course, as with any DCD/C product, we'll have to see what they're ACTUALLY like in hand....
In any case, I'm going to keep my expectations modest for this line. I'm too invested in my DCUC collection to consider replacing it, of course, but any additions that can be thrown towards it are welcome. I'm not even going to flog them for Shining Knights, Abra Kadabras, or Triplicate Girls at this point. Just show me they can do the line properly and sensibly first.
Despite our long history of disappointments, you can woo me back, DCC. Feel free to try. Impress me. Blow my mind. I double-dog-dare you.

I'll degra this and repeat like an endless mantra that a HT Lynda Carter Wonder Woman is an absolute must; if there's one thing I want that hasn't been made yet, it would be that. If they can get a figure of her out that's as high-quality as Reeves and West/Ward here, I am done collecting.
Also, I really want to like those 1/6 Sideshow DC figures, as the Harley and Joker look good, but the Batman and Superman are kinda missing the mark for me. Hard to build a collection without those two. I'll wait and see what their next reveals are before I jump in.

Wasn't sure if this was coming out. It's well done, obviously, but I have a full set of Avengers that I still haven't taken out of the boxes. I don't really have a place to display them yet. Do I need another that *may* never see the light of day, on my shelves? Extra Hulk pieces would sell it.
I wouldn't hesitate at a Maria Hill, though, as I always think another female character would flesh out the grouping. This seems a tad superfluous.

Overall, for how many years have we had DCSH/DCUC/etc, and how many figures were made? And what beats it?
Actually, the number is closer to 340-360ish, if you add in everything-- DCSH, DCUC, DCIE, Young Justice, Public Enemies, Green Lantern Classics, DC & Bats Unlimited, Batman Legacy, and the Watchmen sub. Even if you don't count the 2 toon-related lines (and who isn't displaying the PE Brimstone, hmm?) the total is still well over 300. The reason for the variance in the potential number is how closely you want to count repaints (e.g. Alex Ross-style All-Star shiny Flash vs. original wave 7 release) or pack-in characters (such as Doll Man, Brain, Bat-Mite). Pretty impressive no matter how you slice it.

HUGE thanks to everyone who has contributed to the planning of this, especially NiteOwl for composing the rules, dozy for doing the banner, and for FMS, Stars and our absent friend and member Rod Keith for the use of the pics of their customs - PLUS all the other admins and mods who contributed to the planning discussion.
I'm back, I'm back, how can I resist a Seventies anything. Already got my subject picked out!
