I honestly don't think that's the ending Martin has in store for Jaime and Cersei, if he ever manages to finish the books.  Maybe that's just me feeling cheated after hating Cersei for the better part of two decades now, but a quick little 'she dies in the arms of the man who truly loves her' is so very unsatisfying.

I had a friend on FB recommend reading Fire and Blood, saying it gives hints as to what is actually west of Westeros and where Drogon went, etc.  Anyone out there read that one?

Was I the only one expecting Brienne to write something like 'father to Soandso, son of Ser Brienne of Tarth'?  I mean, I'm glad they didn't, but as she was writing I thought that was coming for sure.

Overall, I liked it.  There are things I would change of course, but I thought it wrapped up things well.  Certainly felt more natural than the prior two episodes to me.

....why exactly are we only getting 6 episodes? Isn't this the most popular show on Earth?

By all reports, HBO wanted more.  The producers said no.

Thought this was a pretty good explanation of things.  Essentially, instead of just letting things develop, and without GRRM's guidance, they decided 'oh we have to get to the ending in 13 episodes' and that forced them to make characters do things that are counter to what they've always done before just to get to the denouement.  Tyrion's sudden idiocy, for example.

I laughed way too much at this.

Some might, but that Scorpion they keep showing us in the opening sequence every week is liable to even those odds a bit.

Nobody that died surprised me, but I was surprised by some that didn't die.  Thought for sure at least one of Brienne, Jamie, or Tormund was doomed.  Thought Davos might go.

Now we get to round up whatever's left and march south to face a full strength Cersei.

I think good isn't what they were going for.  Like most war movies, it was an anti-war movie.  In this case one group on one of the sides was tired of war.  Talos admitted he wasn't a good person.

Hence the 'good guys'.  They are certainly in this movie meant to be more sympathetic, though.  My impression (again, as someone not familiar with the storyline in the comics) has always been the Skrulls were viewed as the 'bad guys' by the Marvel heroes.

Both Kree and Skrulls have always been villains, the former through force, the latter through subversion.

Interesting.  I guess I never really got the impression of the Kree being villains from the periphery.  Maybe it's because of the Super Skrull and reinforced with the Secret Invasion stuff that I had the Skrulls as the bad guys in my head.
