1  The Collector's Life / The Pegs / Re: Marvel Legends - Discussion thread on: August 19, 2019, 11:48:02 am
So the new X-Men wave hit one of the smaller Walmarts in my area. Must have just hit -- because every figure was there in quantities of two. Not really feeling this wave, but I'll pick up a new Nightcrawler (wish he had curlier). I'll eventually get Guardian to replace the previous version, but meh. Mr. Sinister looks nice, but I always felt he was a crap villain.

A week later, all that was left was one silver Wolverine and one Guardian. So, I picked up Guardian (I guess the Alpha Flight logo is an implication of more members to come?!).  The Captain Americas also dwindled considerably, so I picked up my very first Captain America figure! There were two left on the shelf.

I had to make an order from Amazon, so I added the Iceman figure to it. I just love the simplicity of the classic Iceman -- without the spikes.

Very nice!

Is that the DCUC Wonder Woman? If so, it holds up pretty well. Scarlet Witch still looks off somehow -- it's a huge improvement over the previous figure (that was never supposed to be released), but doesn't look that great in a group shot.

I would like to get both that Iron Man and Iceman. I did see Captain America anniversary figure as well. Blue is a bit darker than the classiv version, but looks good over all.  This will be my first Captain America figure.

you know, on Spider-Man and his amazing friends, I always wondered why as a kid Angelica Jones looked like MaryJane Watson, if that was intentional.

She was designed by John Romita, Sr., wasn't she? I check wikipedia -- and he is listed among her creators.

It is crazy that we haven't seen a six-inch Firestar to date. Namorita was very active in the 90s, but honestly, I don't know if she's alive or not now. I think there was an alternate universe version of her appearing in Fantastic Four. I think, though, that Firestar wasn't wearing her iconic yellow bodysuit in New Warriors -- at least not the entire series.

Nefaria would be a lot more attractive a figure than Grey Gargoyle -- who really just doesn't pop on the shelf. A figure that will probably never get made but would pop like Hell is Nebulon.

I have serious doubts that Todd's line will be anywhere near as universe-building as Marvel Legends or even DCUC. That first projected wave does not say universe-builder to me.

Good Lord! Go ahead and pat yourself on the back for this bizarre casting choice Disney/Marvel, but I prefer casting an actor a little closer to the source material. I love female characters, but Makkari is based on the Roman God Mercury -- whom I'm pretty certain was male.

I'd guess Ikaris is on the way -- in conjunction with the Eternals film. Killraven remains a longshot. And still no sign of Thunderbird in an X-Men wave.

Hmmm... as big a fan as I am of Havok & Polaris -- not sure about the 90s 2-pack. Guess I'll make that determination when and if I see the pack on the shelves.

And what the fuck are the New Mutans doing in X-Factor costumes?! Isn't the old school X-Men uniform their most iconic look?!!

Out of stock as of July 19.

Yeah, for whatever reason -- Mattel's DC showings have been painful the last couple of years. Not even a good Shazam wave to go with the film.

Hopefully McFarlane is strong enough to do things the way they should be done -- without too many WB suits getting invovled. He's the toy guy -- they should just be letting him do his thing.

So it was mentioned that Gamestop has those classic Marvel figures. My mall doesn't have a Gamestop. It has EB Games (I think that's the name). No classics, but did pick up Elektra (already have Cloak & Dagger from that series). This is my first Elektra figure. Now, I just need a Daredevil. They had a buy one get one half off -- but there wasn't a second figure I wanted/needed.

Oh, I did see a classic Wasp at the FYE. There were two, and I passed. I may return to pick it up later -- though it's not an outfit I recognize, so could just as easily pass.

Thanks for heads up. Didn't even realize that one-shot existed.
