What's up with those old Toy Biz figures in front? Wonder if they're there just to show in conjunction with their larger homage counterparts .. or, if they're retro re-releases?

I have all those old figures still on card .. every one of them.  yess.gif I feel a need to find them all now.. somewhere in my garage.  Undecided

Hey JQ!

Awesome review!

I really only want WARLOCK, NEBULA and DEATH'S HEAD II from this assortment. And I'm with you on the whole Ex Nihlo character ..except for me that Avengers run, and everything else going on with MARVEL at that time (s.wars, FF, X-Men, Avengers, Cap) made me drop all their titles completely. I'm only now starting to get back to a few MARVEL books .. X-Men BLUE and THOR.

One of my all-time favorite MARVEL story arcs is the WARLOCK MAGUS one. Also, as WARLOCK is one of my favorite characters overall ... I'm really looking forward to picking him up. Starlin's WARLOCK run, with Pip, Gamora, Drax and Thanos, was cosmic opera at it's best .. it's a real shame that WARLOCK hasn't realized that level of awesome since. (That arc where he died, then another version of himself came to take him into the soul gem.. good lord, what a story, and it played out over years .. Marvel Two-In-One Annual)

I would kill for a true Starlin WARLOCK and MAGUS ... and all the supporting characters. The next Avengers movies should be fun to watch with HIM showing up. I only hope these movies are as close to spectacular as those fond stories of my youth. I have all those books still, and they're some of the most prized in my collection.

Again, nice review, and nice to see you posting a bit more.

Best,

SV

Just a heads-up, I picked up all 7 of X-MEN Wave 2 this morning at TARGET.

They had 8 total figures (case?) with one of each, and 2 Old Man Logans.

- Cyclops
- Sunfire
- Polaris
- Old Man Logan
- Dazzler
- Colossus
- Shatterstar

Start the hunt.

7  The Collector's Life / The Pegs / Re: Super Powers/Friends: Would you accept them in a new Mattel 6" line? on: January 13, 2017, 12:29:52 am
I've been collecting comics since 1974, toys almost as long.. was out of toys in teens, but back in around early 20s (1987 or so) 30 years for toys I guess. Things have no doubt changed for retail availability, one-shots, and speculation line launches. Many toys companies, and retailers, have adjusted to new buying patterns, production costs, etc etc.. we've heard much of this before. I now look for DC items beyond toys (lego, models, pops, vinyl figs, Knic-Knacs) to satisfy by OCD twitches. Most toys lines are just crap now, Mattel specifically, so I do save money there. Hasbro gets props for some really nice Marvel figs, and NECA has a few hits too here and there.

Comics I almost stopped cold turkey, a few (2 or 3) per month that I don't even read. There is no way, no how, anyone will ever convince me DC has rebounded by stepping away from the new 52 .. yeah they stopped the bleading, but they drove away so many people, (And now Marvel is doing the same) that Comic Book stores across the nation are dropping like flies. Granted Marvel is currently worse than ever with their incoherent story-lines, and gwen-of-the day derivative heroes, but DC is not that far behind.

This watchmen shit, 2 wallys, Robin-of-the-day, JLA, JLU, JL-whatever, Green Lanterns, Ethnic Lanterns, Gender Lanterns, Political Lanterns .. it's all so much shit. I can't pick up a fucking comic anywhere anymore past 1985 that is decent.

I know I sound like an old man .. kind of am I guess, but both comic book companies are just fucking shit. Rebirth for DC is hardly ground-breaking, or even fairly good  Thumbs Down .. it's just not the NU52, and a few remaining people seem to like that better.

Unless a toy line goes back to the classic DC 1989 or before established characters, then it's just more shit toys.. and I think we've seen the end of that possibility for some time. (*though Imaginext still rocks Smiley ).

Off my box .. for now.

9  The Collector's Life / The Pegs / Re: The All-Encompassing Lego Thread on: April 03, 2016, 03:32:36 pm
Not yet.. I'm in the same boat. Batcave, maybe, someday.. not just yet though. I've been trying to figure out $75 of lego I want for the mini.. but, alas, can't find enough to justify the $75 spend.

On a side note.. I did stumble across the UCI Star Wars ($180-190) set someone returned to target, it rang up $59.99 so I picked that up as it was too good a deal to pass up.. and I don't even collect Star Wars lego.

A deal is a deal  Thumbs Up

I found 66 batman the other day(aren't these sold with a dvd?mine wasn't)yet to see the others

They're sold as singles, but they're supposed to be bait for a bundle buy with a Warner Bros DC Superhero DVD of some kind of your choosing for $30... that's the offer they are pushing. Basically buy a DVD reg price, and get the figure for 50% off - or just buy the figure for full price ($20) and skip the DVD like most do.

They fit together like a foot in a glove.

Plus I hate to put my credit card info on the interweb.  Call me paranoid, call me a luddite.  I just don't do it.  I don't know what would get me to start.

Plus, DC should make it's presence felt at retail.  Like the WWE.  Like MotU can't.  Like DCC won't.  Multiversity should be DC's big box representative.  Fuck Mattycollector and Digital Swamp.  I mean River.

Credit Cards purchases are fraud protected, you would never get burned. Credit cards used online are the same as credit card purchases made in the stores... both transactions go thru a merchant account (via the web) to process. It really makes no difference.

Debit cards are a different matter. Since they are directly connected to your checking account, any fraud/theft using that card will result in funds coming out of your personal pocket immediately. Most losses can be recovered, but it may take time, and you're out of cash until then.. one of many reasons I never use my debit card for online purchases.

Credit cards though.. you will be fine, and it's all the rage with the kids.  rock.gif
