Thanks, Chooch! I'll take it.

My predilection for a scorpion motif goes back farther than Drive- I first heard the frog and scorpion parable in The Crying Game.  Scorpio is the villain of both Dirty Harry and Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD. My own astrological sign is, you guessed it, SCORPIO. The Order Of The Scorpion is introduced here, but they're also the heavy in Ben Venice. I snuck in a crossover.

Thanks for the honest appraisal! Always holds more water.

It sure can!

Finally got that Age Of Ultron Cap. It's pretty cool, I like it. They've done good work designing a functional feeling Cap for these movies that still feels classic.

None of these ideas are interesting to me.

Guess I'll save some bread.

Now Dig This, old Pals:

My first work of fiction has been published. The Lemon Herberts are a Rock & Roll band living it up in the mid 60's, getting into antics and action on their first world tour. The book is made up of six short stories detailing their stops across the globe, and one of those tales told is by yours truly. I'll be selling them for the nice price of 14 bucks (that's including S&H for out of town pals) and am taking orders starting...now.

Post here if you're down.

Thanks to Jim Beard for making this possible and letting me play with his fictional babies.

Maybe not, but he looks pretty cool.
10  The Collector's Life / The Pegs / Re: So there's no good Avengers: Age Of Ultron toys? on: June 11, 2015, 05:00:50 pm
I like Titan Heroes. I really do. Some more than others, but overall, they're good fun.

Those 12" 5 POA things? Yeah, I dig those, but they aren't movie likenesses, I don't think. You can really only tell from Cap, and that's the only one I would want.
13  Action Figure Blues / Fanboy Free-for-all / Re: The very sad news of Measle from Criticalmess.net on: May 15, 2015, 05:39:56 pm
I was one of the first people on Criticalmess, when it was still sort of in beta mode. I had never been to any of the sites you guys had frequented before, my gateway was that I was friends with Alex (TransvestiteGo-Bot/Doghouse O'reiley) and he saw something in my writing. I'm not proud of this, but I had a very superior attitude that I think I figured no one could detect, coupled with a really closeted nature in my day to day life about my geeky interests. outside of the internet and the guy who runs my favorite local shop, very few people knew that I love comics and all this shit.

Eventually, Measle called me on it. At that time, I wasn't especially inclined to listen to anybody about anything, and especially not someone on the internet that I didn't know outside of being a guy on a message board about toys. But there was something about what he said and the way he said it that really got through to me. I'm paraphrasing, but it was essentially "You come off like a self hating narcissist, and it doesn't matter how smart and cool you are if you're an asshole. Ease up."

Measle and I were never close. We had different tastes, we had different approaches to a lot of things, but I think there was a lot of respect there. Had I not taken what he said to heart, it's likely I would've lost interest in being a part of that community and not made some pretty dear friends. His calling me out made me want to prove to...somebody, maybe myself, maybe him, maybe some of you, that I wasn't a total shitheel. In the long run, I'm no longer secretive in real life about loving geek shit. The first step came from Measle.

I wish I had told him that.

Where are those? I love 3.75" figures with limited articulation.

And hey Gard, what's up.
15  The Collector's Life / The Pegs / So there's no good Avengers: Age Of Ultron toys? on: May 13, 2015, 07:38:58 pm
I'm actually pretty forgiving of junky toys that are toys for toys' sake, but really, there's no good Avengers figures? Or am I missing something?

Am I missing something?

I don't think I am. I'm disappointed for kids.
