1  The Collector's Life / The Pegs / Re: AFB TALKBACK: MOTUC He-ro on: September 18, 2009, 10:59:24 pm
Today I started the process of buying the figures I missed.  First up: Mer-Man!  Once I decided to get into this line I knew he would be the first one I'd track down.  I can't wait for him to come in  Smiley

Well Andy, just like the Man-at-Arms dragged you in to the MOTU Classics line, the Webstor got me.  I broke down and picked him up from matty today.  I just couldn't resist.  I have a feeling that I'm going to be tracking these bastards down on eBay for the next few months!

Wow guys, totally didn't see the "visuals" list of threads.  Sorry about that!

Forgive me if there is already a thread about this, but I didn't see one.  I was just wondering what everyone's thoughts are about the Guy Ritchie-directed Lobo movie that was just announced?  How do you think The Main Man will do on the big screen?  My only concern is that the article I read says that they will be aiming for a PG-13 rating, and I hope that they don't tone the violence down too much.  I think they can get away on the swearing by being true to the comics and using Lobo's slang.  FRAG!
5  The Collector's Life / The Pegs / Re: AFB TALKBACK: History of the DCU: Wave Two now up! on: September 10, 2009, 10:48:29 pm
I broke down and picked up the Black Lightning.  I have to say that he is a really great figure.  I was actually pretty surprised by just how good he looks.  It's great to have a classic BL in the collection.  Flash looked a bit off to me, at least in-package.  I can't pinpoint it, but something just wasn't right about him.  Aquaman is another easy pass for me.  The goofy grin and the no-scales look is just strange.  Odd choice by DCD, especially on the grin since none of the other characters have that in the line (I guess Blue Devil kinda does).  I thought the Creeper looked great.  I would have picked him up, but the LCS only had one, and his nick was broken (his head was literally almost falling off).  The funny thing was that the package was in great shape so it must have happened at the factory.

DCD really dropped the ball with this series IMO.  As we all know, this line was created to try to capture a little of Mattel's thunder, but the problem is DCD went about it all wrong.  Those bucks are terrible.  I know it's common for companies to reuse bucks to save money (I know, Mattel does in DCUC), but this is a bad buck to reuse over and over.  Something about seeing that buck on every figure for 2 waves just doesn't look right.  When I see the figures lined up together it just looks so weird, like they didn't do anything at all to distinguish each of them.  So there they are with generic, roided-out bucks, and they just look like repaints of the same prototype.  With that said, I'll probably pick up Blue Devil, Black Lightning, Creeper, and Flash eventually.  I've always wanted a Blue Devil and a Creeper, so while they may not be exactly how I'd like them, I still want to add them to my collection.  I'm excited we finally get a Black Lightning in his throwback costume, and I've been on a Flash kick lately so that's why I'll probably be picking him up.  Does anyone else think that these bucks look kinda McGuinnes style?

They look amazing, but this is one line I stay right away from due to the price tag by the time they get here. One slippery slope I DON'T need to go down.  Smiley

Oh I hear that! They released a couple of military sniper figures a few years ago that call out to me occasionally from ebay!

LOL!  It will be a few weeks before I can snag any of these, and that's if decide get them.  I'm leaning towards getting at least one, just to see what all the fuss is about  Tongue
8  The Collector's Life / The Pegs / Re: AFB TALKBACK: SDCC JLU Green Lanterns and DCIH Anti-Monitor on: September 07, 2009, 05:28:31 pm
Hey Andy, I know we've talked about the Green Lantern Origins 3-Pack (still loving mine Grin ), but how is the IH Anti-Monitor?  He looks pretty sweet from the pics I've seen.
9  The Collector's Life / The High End / Re: Cover Girls of the DCU Statue Series: updated with Zatanna on: September 07, 2009, 05:25:35 pm
These look great.  OK, new rule: no more posting pics/updates about DC Direct statues!  No?  Well, I tried, lol.  You guys are going to make me start buying busts and statues, and i just don't think my already-strained wallet can take it!  Cheesy
10  Action Figure Blues / Fanboy Free-for-all / Re: What did you do today? on: September 07, 2009, 04:47:58 pm
I did the grocery shopping, then drove out to the Baton Rouge area (45 minutes or so away) to do some hunting.

Hey bigraj, you're from Louisiana eh?  What city are you from?  I live in Moss Point,Mississippi (about 15 minutes from Biloxi), about 3 hours from Baton Rouge.  Small world!  I'm glad LSU pulled through against Washington.  I'm a Mississippi State fan, but LSU is about the only other team in the Conference (but I do pull for Vanderbilt in the East) I care about.  I'm going to see State and LSU play in Starkville on the 26th.  Can't wait!

Thanks Mike.  I checked out the Two-Face on your site, and you may very well be getting an order from me within the next few weeks!  Great price on it  Grin  I don't usually open my figures, but I'm thinking if I get the Hot Toys I'll probably be opening them, because alot of the draw of them for me is the tons of accessories and interchangeable parts that they come with.
12  Action Figure Blues / Fanboy Free-for-all / Hot Toys on: September 07, 2009, 03:59:23 pm
Hey everyone, I have a quick question for you guys.  I'm strongly considering buying a few of The Dark Knight Hot Toys figures, and I was just wondering if anyone here has any HTs figures?  From what I've seen they look great, but I'm a little wary to spend $200 a figure since I've never seen them in person and I've never talked to anyone who has any.  Any info would be great!
13  The Collector's Life / The Pegs / Re: AFB Talkback: Batman: The Brave & the Bold in Oz! on: September 06, 2009, 05:53:31 pm
I really like the line, but I'm trying to stop myself from buying them because there is just so much I want!  The only figure I've bought from it so far is the Blue Beetle with his Bug.  I just couldn't resist owning one of my favorite character's awesome ride!  I did a quick search to see if I could find a pic of the Joker figure, and I couldn't find an in-package shot, but I did find this:

Looks like it may have been shown at SDCC.  I don't know how I missed it!
14  The Collector's Life / The Pegs / Re: AFB Talkback: Batman: The Brave & the Bold in Oz! on: September 06, 2009, 03:30:46 pm
Hey everyone, I just read on the DCD boards that someone said they found a B&B Joker.  I had no clue there was a Joker in the series, but I thought those here that collect the line may like to know!
15  The Collector's Life / The Pegs / Re: AFB TALKBACK: SDCC JLU Green Lanterns and DCIH Anti-Monitor on: August 27, 2009, 08:55:24 pm
Well if you need either of those I don't have any problem checking for you.  I have to work tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday, so I'll be at the store anyways (work for Coca-Cola).  Not sure exactly what they have but I do know that they have tons of MU.  Comic figures don't sell that well in my area.  Well, DC Universe Classics do, but none of the 3 Wal-Marts around me ever get any in, and on the blue moon that they do, employees buy them all and scalp them online.  While strolling the toy aisle a few days ago I actually overheard an employee on his cell-phone talking to someone about how much money he made scalping Pokemon toys on eBay.  It's sickening.
