I have seen the Tamiya undercoat here though.

That's what i use,never had a drama with it.

I'm not sure if i mentioned this but after 13's recommendations i decided to try out some of Vallejo's Acrylic Paints.Very impressed i have to say,great consistency,mixes and thins really easy as well.Great variety of colours too which is always a bonus and some good mixed sets which is how i purchased mine.

Will definitely continue using them from now on.

Its interesting that people will swear by a particular brand and never sway. I'll try anything once

Yeah definitely,it's worth experimenting with different Brands.I use all sorts that i find are useful for specific applications,always have.But these Vallejo's are definitely going to be my basic"go to"Paints now.

I've seen just as many complaints online about how the plastic pots with flip lids make them dry faster as I've seen people swearing up and down that they never dry out. I've had a complete set of them for many years and it's frustrating that some stay nice and fresh, some can be resuscitated with some water and some have turned to dry hard plastic.

As rarely as possible. They're complete assholes. Their prices go up and the volume of paint goes down. I use them if I need a specific colour that's spot on and saves me having to mix large quantities. I'm sick to death of them drying out. I've got Tamiya and Gunje Sangyo (Mr Hobby) that are ten years old and are fine. The latter has pigment that settles, but a quick stir with a toothpick and you're off and running again.

I'll use Tamiya for virtually everything that I can. That said, I can't find Testors Model Masters acrylics in Australia that Stars swears by.

I don't understand how the citadel paints work. Might be because they're dry to start with

REcently, I bought a Jace Beleren figure from Funko's Magic: The Gathering line. The specific issue with this character is that the eye paint job is uniformly atrocious on all the batch of figures produced, which brings me to the point of a refresher course on how to properly paint eyes on an action figure, aided by the following pictures:



These portraits illustrate the available options to fix the dead stare of the original paint job. In all of them would be necessary to have some separation between the white line running down his cheek and the white of the eye, giving it a better definition.

In picture 1, we start with a thin black line atop the eye and a solid black iris. Note that the iris touches the upper line and barely reaches the bottom of the lower eyelid.

In picture 2, a small dab of blue is applied onto the black  to simulate a colored iris, with a tiny dot of black applied for the pupil.

Picture 3 shows a solid blue iris with a black pupil as well as a small white highlight applied just above and to the side of it. I find this to look rather anime-like, but could work for this character.

Picture 4 is just the laziest solution, but fit for a M:TG mage. On this, the whole eye is painted blue and then given a light blue "pupil" to simulate a glowing eye.
