As i don't have much to share as far as WIP's at this point i'd like to contribute a little bit on Tools for Sculpting.
Here's my personal selection of useful sculpting Tools:
Basic rundown on what i have here:
-A variety of Dental Tools:Come in all sort of shapes from pointy to flat.These are your basic all around Sculpting Tools for shaping and detail. You can purchase these however if you happen to know a Dentist they tend to replace these Tools regularly so you might be able to score them for nothing.
-Burnishing Tools:These are the little double ended Tools with different sized Metal Balls on each end,great for indentations or inverted curved Sculpts.Also good for rounding off Boot Tops,Cuffs,etc.
-Old Blunt Exacto Knives:Great for trimming your Epoxy and trimming excess putty away. Also excellent for creating squared edges on your Sculpt.And they're blunt so injury is minimalised.
-Small and Large Headless Screwdrivers:Home made items of course with the Tips ground/cut off.These are my Rollers for uniformly flattening out the Putty either before or after applying to the figure.
-Old Paintbrush Handles:My absolute favourite and most used of all my Sculpting Tools.Take an old Paintbrush and trim down the ends to required shapes.You figure all that out through experimentation.Then i usually cover them in Superglue just to reinforce and waterproof them,love 'em.
Just a couple of notes here:
-Keep your tools Tips clean,built up Putty affects the shape and then of course the outcome of whatever you're trying to achieve.I tend to run a very fine Sandpaper over my Tips regularly to keep all edges and points clean.
-When working with your Epoxy,i find it very handy to keep a little jar of Water next to you.Dip your Tools in whilst sculpting just to keep the edges moist.Makes it so much easier.
