Hi all, Does anyone here collect GI Joe?

I've been a huge fan since since the 80's and have been trying to build a collection for awhile now after drifting in and out of collecting over the years. I have a huge RAH collection, saw the 25th Anniversary stuff and passed because of the scale difference.

Anyway, does anyone know if the Hall of Heroes Collection and Rise Of Cobra stuff are in 3 3/4 scale or the 25th anniversary (4') scale??

No and No.

However, I did see the trailer for the Adult Swim series, which looks awesome!

Oh yeah! GI Joe Resolute written by none other than Warren Ellis.

The comics have been so good too. Then again, I'm biased Chuck Dixon is writing the main and the movie prequels and I have much platonic hetro-man love for Chuck. I loved his Nightwing, Robin, Detective, BOP, Punisher. The only man who can write 5 monthlies and all be top notch.

Then we have Christos Gage on the Cobra series which is very very cool and gritty and the legendary Larry Hama on the Origins series. I enjoyed Devil's Due but IDW is doing some great stuff.

That being said, the upcoming movie gives me the fear. Chuck Dixon's prequels are so good, I know I'm gonna be disappointed..I think i'll approach the film with very low expectations.

Xander is your man in that dept I believe.

They're out there, since the Joes are doing well in the current AFB poll.

I didn't realise that, but I guess I should have, since I saw the trailer link on his website...

I'll watch that, but I'm not planning on watching the upcoming movie.

Tyroc has a pretty kick-ass collection of them little fighting men! He was showing me a bunch of them the other day but I had to stop him when he showed me his Stormshadow jammies!

Speaking of stuff, I got all wistful about my Micronauts and looked up a checklist. I had way more of them than I thought.

So Tyroc, are we gonna turn your spare room into a GI-Joe headquarters? Should I break out the woodworking tools?

Not even for fun? I like Dennis Quaid, I'll see it just for a gas.

Not a GI Joe expert, but I am selling them.  The box on the Hall of Heroes says they are the 10 favorite figures from the 25th anniversary series, so I imagine they must be in the same scale as the 25th anniversary figures....just a guess though.

Did Andy put you up to this? Cheesy

I collect Joe off and on.  As a big fan/collector of the RAH stuff I hit the 25th series really hard but I doubt I'll get the new multi packs, although I really want Recondo.  Space is an issue and unless I get around to making a pinopong table sized diorama I doubt I'll break them back out any time soon.
The 25th anniversary stuff is a fantastic tribute to the Joes I grew up with and many other lines have since followed suit, He-Man and Transformers in particular.  Hasbro's no fool when it comes to the '80s, even their new Marvel line seems partialy based around that decade.

The HOH series is mostly compromised of repacks from the 25th anniversary series with very few new parts here or there.  The Rise of Cobra stuff is somewhat new somewhat re-used but still in the 4-inch scale.  Similar to the Transformers movie line it'll be new sculpts alongside repainted stuff from past lines.

Cool thanks Xander.

I recently got my interest reinvigorated due to the IDW GI Joe comics. I saw some of the movie stuff that's coming and they look pretty cool. I really want the Pitt but it's doubtful it'll make it to Oz.

The local TRU got like one case of Joes and sold out pretty quick but they do have two vehicles I've been umming and ahhing about.

Think I might tentatively start getting some 25th ones, mostly the newer figures they never made in RAH like Wraith, Cobra Diver, Specialist Trakker etc.

I've got nearly all the originals. Still need one or two here and there. As for the newer stuff I've mostly been buying them to keep on card for the artwork. Just my favorites. I've also been buying the new characters to put on my Joe shelf. And all the vehicles cause I love the fact they're just the classic ones reissued. I keep em boxed though; which is good cause my gfs kid would dismantle them all otherwise.

Like that stupid Night SHARC I gave him.  Wink

Yeah, have to track that down again,

In the meantime, check out the new cartoon written by Warren Ellis. It's a 10 part show each part runs about 5 mins on Adult Swim like Xander mentioned. I was giggling like a schoolgirl watching it. Only 5 eps posted so far..

Here's part 1
