I remember SD saying some uncomplimentary things about Warners Consumer Products - and they just had their own layoffs.

I've been watching loads of podcasts about the future of comic books ( in general ) and it's not looking very bright.  I just watched one about the DC layoffs, and the information was very shocking.  The 'failure' of the JUSTICE LEAGUE movie was a huge factor.

We as fans always wanna press the panic button.  Myself included.   Sales are down in comics, true.  But at least where DC is concerned, the books haven’t been this good in decades.  I’m not exaggerating.  But comics aren’t going anywhere for the simple fact that they are a license factory.  Did you know that Tracey Thirteen has a TV show in developement at CW?  Tracey fucking Thirteen?!  AT&T is an enormous communications company.  Three time the size of Disney even after the Fox merger.  They need content.  Lots of it.  DC has to figure into that.  I read part of an interview where an exac at AT&T that’s now running Warner Media said that there will be pain at HBO.  Growing pains.  HBO needs to have several nights of content, not just two.  My guess is a split week, Thur/Fri and Sun/Mon.  I’d also guess that Cinemax is included.

I saw two trailers today.  One for Umbrella Academy, the other for The Boys.  Both looked awesome.  Better than any of the stuff I’ve seen from Marvel/DC recently.

Umbrella Academy looks like they did a pretty good job of translating the wackiness.  I'm a little iffy on the Boys yet.  The lighting seems very dark whereas the comic had a lot of bright colors to contrast the horrificness.
