I think he needs to have either charm or vulnerability as a human for the machine to be tragic.  Diesel did a good job of that with the Riddick franchise.

I have no real attachment to any of the 'new' Valiant characters, so I'd be pretty happy to hear any of them are being given a shot on the big (or small screen). Archer & Armstrong was one that I thought could work. Particularly if they use it as a launch vehicle to expose people to the Eternal Warrior or even X-O-Manowar.
