Trailer:

Atlantis looks amazing! Nice to see Black Manta is very faithful to his comics look. It it ain't broke -- don't fix it.

I'm kind of pissed off at DC/WB now.  That TITANS trailer was just bad.  MAN OF STEEL and BVS were too dark and heavy.  That said.... I want to say that AQUAMAN looked pretty cool.  A lot of that is because....

A) No Batman in sight
B) No Superman in sight
C) They beat Marvel to the punch with an 'underwater' movie

I'm good with that.  It's supposed to be a spectacle roller-coaster.

I can only imagine what Zack Snyder thinks of this!  Hahaha!  "Why is it so damned colorful and vibrant!??  This doesn't look dark and depressing at all!  Where's Aquaman's rage??"

Seriously though, I love that it's AQUAMAN, yet there is rooftop chase in the middle of the freaking desert! How cool is that??

This will be holiday viewing, no doubt. But may go see 'Vice' first.

Yeah, it's the definition of a popcorn movie. I just wish they wouldn't take 80% of the movie to finally get him in a comic accurate(ish) costume.

The lack of identifying elements from the comics makes it hard for me to really buy into what I'm watching. For example, when he's fighting Black Manta on top of the buildings, it's not Aquaman to me, just Momoa in some civvies having a fight.

I didn't really have a problem with lack of identifying costume, but I agree that it came a bit too late --- in a rather long film.

I've always liked Mera -- and am glad that in the past 10 years, she's finally come into her own after mostly being ignored since the Silver Age. He powers really adapt nicely to film. Mera's bright red hair was a bit distracting though -- since that color was very artificial. Being that Arthur's hair barely had any hint of blonde -- it's a bit crazy the lengths they went to regarding Mera's locks.

Manta looked good. He made for a couple of good, quick fight scenes to keep the action level up.

Didn't realize Patrick Wilson was in this. First saw him in Watchmen as Nite-Owl. I guess Ocean Master's origin changed quite a bit over the years. Didn't he used to be non-Atlantean -- half brother on the Curry side only?

The underwaster visuals were spectacular. Hate to think how this would have looked if Zack Snyder was at the helm. I don't know much about Momoa, but I think he's playing a version of himself-- and it's fun and works. But I can see where fish is coming from -- it never quite feel like I'm watching Aquaman, but I still enjoyed the film for what it was.

Nicole Kidman's role added a bit of pathos to the film that I wasn't expecting. It was a nice touch.

God knows he loves his heavily muted colors, plus loads of dark grays and black.
