So, lot of info and some pics being released this past week. I've never been a huge fan of the Carol's Captain Marvel uniform, but it looks decent for the film. We know it will be set in the 90s. A younger Nick Fury will be prominent making use of heavy CGI apparently. Monica Rambeau will be a young girl, a daughter of Carol's airforce pilot firend -- making way for the adult version to show up in present time. Oh, there is a Kree Starforce led by Mar Vell, I believe -- and these guys will probably be potential action figures in a Captain Marvel wave.

I hadn't thought about the re-usability factor of Starforce's uniforms.  Easy headswaps means the male and female Kree uniform will dominate that wave unfortunately.

On the plus side, I'm heartened to hear that this isn't an origin story.

I'm not too excited about this one, but I'm sure I'll see it.

This one is doomed.

I hope not. I'd like to see it do well so that it shows it's not just the boys who have to headline a movie. Wonder Woman had us off and running, now we just need Carol to keep the pace.

PC isn’t what’s doomed this movie.  It’s a no name character, a no name actress, a convoluted backstory, and a 90’s setting that is a hurricane force headwind for this flick.  Black Widow with Scarjo shoulda been the first female Marvel film out of the gate.

You don’t get a second GotG.

I agree with Gard that Marvel missed the opportunity with Black Widow. Frankly, the character stole the show in Iron Man II. I don't think she's been used as effectively since then -- though she has had some good moments in Avengers and Captain America.

Marvel owns the Captain Marvel name, but in near 50 years of ownership, they've mostly failed to do anything lasting with it. The Starlin issues of Captain Marvel were amazing, but that was long ago. Peter David's series had its moments. They can't make a go of Carol -- mostly because they've been shooting themselves in the foot with her more androgynous look and so so creative teams. I guess they think this is their time to finally do something lasting with it. I think they would have been smarter had they introduced the character in another films first. But Marvel is full of itself now, and most people think they can do no wrong. I'm very skeptical, but I don't think CM will be a flop, but it won't be a Wonder Woman.

I think Charlize Theron could have pulled this off. I'm not familiar with the actress playing CM, but she doesn't scream big box office to me.

If you haven’t seen Atomic Blonde, I highly recommend it.  Charlize is awesome.  And she stole the Tom Hardy Mad Mad flick as well.

Atomic Blonde should be on HBO/Cinemax for the rest of the month at least.

"Atomic Blonde" was frigging incredible!!!  Pretty awesome soundtrack, too.

"Mad Max" really should have just been called "Furiosa" or "Fury Road".  Max was kind of just a side character. ( just an observation, not a complaint )

I agree Scar Jo should have got her solo movie by now. Of course it doesn't help that Jennifer Lawrence and Red Sparrow have now beaten her to it.

First trailer:

Looks interesting. Is she going Binary at the end? That's surprising!
