Allegedly, that is the first wave.

But there was another guy on there a couple of weeks ago who said he saw new McFarlane DC SKUs in the Walgreens computer system.  Seven SKUs with one repeated.  Which Iím guessing would be an exclusive or a variant.  No descriptions were available, just the number.  Iím not really buying into any of it yet.

Oh no.  Let me assure you that there are a bunch of Fwooshtards that are just peeing their pants over 7 inch scale.

I do think it's a legit observation that scale will likely be irrelevant because no McFarlane figure will stylistically fit with DCUC.  He's not for universe or even team building.  He's for cool singles.

Not really.  As a former Spawn collector, he did many themed waves for various properties.  Plus cool singles are great and all, but I was under the impression he got the gig to go nose to nose with Marvel Legends.  Increase DC’s retail shelf presence.  And yeah, stylistically, I doubt seriously we get the Jose Luis Garcia Lopez 1982 style guide treatment that Bruckner started up with at DCD in the early 2000’s and the 4H followed up with in DCSH/DCUC.  Todd’s not doing that for sure.  At any scale.

I have serious doubts that Todd's line will be anywhere near as universe-building as Marvel Legends or even DCUC. That first projected wave does not say universe-builder to me.

The working theory is that heís trying to cover all the bases in six inch scale.  Testing the waters to see what works.  Heís not going to get any sales data about Multiverse from Mattel, and DCC sales data wonít help with retail.  Outside of pro sports, DC is the biggest license Toddís ever had.  Going heavy in the big names and Batman should be expected.  As much as I hate it.  And Iím not convinced yet that the lineup is totally accurate.  If it is accurate, 8/13 of the figures are supposedly comic accurate.  Better than the 50/50 split I was expecting.  Itís tough to Universe build in three years.  Even team building is gonna be tough.  If Todd gets a four or five year extension very quickly, then I think weíll see more long term thinking and planning.  At least I hope so.  All of this looks like a DCC lineup.

Jay C has a video with pics on YouTube.  I hate say everything looks  great. Modern Supes & Bats especially. No connection to the armored versions, but I'm a sucker for an armored Batsuit, so.... Wink Arrow looks nice too, but I'd want the whole live action crew, so undecided  for now.

First look!

https://www.newsarama.com/48431-todd-mcfarlane-reveals-first-wave-of-his-dc-comics-toys-collectibles.html

The iconic Batman and Superman figures look good, but I really need a deeper character assortment before I jump onto yet another DC figure collection. For me, I think it's too little, way too late.

My post and a response from over da Fwoosh der hey:

    For me,

    Pros:
    Some sculpts look great.
Large number of figures out of the gate.
    $20 is reasonable.
    Willing to make vehicles.

    Cons:
    Heavy Super/Bat
Mishmash of styles keeps it from feeling like a line
    Scaled above existing collections
Articulation seems excessive and/or odd (ball joint wrists/ankles)
Extra $5 for part of a vehicle in another scale

I may fall sway when I see them in person, but for the moment I'm not tempted to start a line that's not really a line.

My big question at this point is how cases will be packed out.

cases of the 7 inch are 6 per case.

the standard batman/superman case is 3 of each

the ones with the $5 build a something nobody probably really wants is 2 of each per case

green arrow 2/ harley quinn 4

animated wave is 3 batman/ 2 superman/ 1 green lantern

armored are 3 of each per case

the 4 inch figure cases are 2 rebirth batman then 1 each of the others....even the chase is 1 per case which i don't get unless the gold batman is named "chase figure" in the comics.

there are also solid cases of each figure but i don't believe those will hit places like target, walmart and toys r....uh.....target and walmart.

I will admit though, that the prospect of buying something DC related in a store is appealing.
