1  The Collector's Life / The Pegs / Re: Do you own a self pleasuring Batman figure? on: September 04, 2010, 03:40:27 pm
I was slightly concerned to click.

What were they thinking?
2  The Collector's Life / The Pegs / Re: AFB TALKBACK: MOTUC Optikk, Mer-Man and Tytus! on: July 24, 2010, 04:25:43 am
I think Optikk the evil Space Mutant continues the trend of really well done baddies in this toy line. So far, even though I do not have any MOTU, if I were to get any it would be almost exclusively bad guys, Skeletor, Scareglow, Marzo, Optikk and so on.
3  The Collector's Life / The Pegs / Re: Is anybody into Doctor Who figures on: July 24, 2010, 04:11:04 am
I have been tempted many a time, I will either get a 10th or 11th Doctor and a Tardis. it is just too bad they are such an in between size.
4  The Collector's Life / The Pegs / Re: Voltron returns! on: June 13, 2010, 02:33:57 am
it is definitely something you think would have been the other way around, Mattel would have happily continued to use either the DCUC or MOTUC bucks for Thundercats and Bandai has obviously made Voltron things in the past.

So Thundercats toys instead will be built to the standards of Power Rangers meaning a prolly 5" scale and cheap but with crap articulation. Voltron will have good articulation but dodgy quality control and will be impossible to find and when we ask why we can't find it, we will be told it is because we need to buy every bit of Mattel Voltron merchandise and support the line.

So next month, I vote we have a Willem Defoe theme.

Um, what??

Too soon?

So next month, I vote we have a Willem Defoe theme.
Cool Cool Cool Cool

Just to be clear, I've got dibs on this:

Okay first, the above movie is EPIC. I love Willem Defoe. Second you guys are making me feel young.

Who the HELL walks anywhere in the US that isn't in a metropolitan area? Nobody, except apparently people too stupid to realise that you shouldn't walk along a busy highway. The real problem is that more things like this do not actually eliminate more people from the gene pool.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I really just try to make sure I personally thank any one who has given good service, even if it was just being (or at least pretending to be) pleasant when serving. I was in the local Entertainer (toy shop in England) in the town of Staines and they just recently began stocking Marvel Universe. They had Extremis Iron Man on the shelf and I was really wanting Captain America, so I asked a clerk if they had anything in the back. He came back with what must have been a case quantity that had the Cap. I made sure I thanked him and told him how much I appreciated it.

Conversely my local Tesco (grocery store) and over one weekend they got in about two dozen Marvel Universe figures. Of those figures they had three Red Hulks, unfortunately I had no monies so I waited until pay-day. By then they had removed them all, ALL! Over the next week they started putting them out at a rate of about one every three days. They had Daredevil, Guardian and Silver Surfer (who I am waiting for Galactus for) so I asked one of the assistants and he said "checking the computer we do not actually carry these but wee obviously have them, I will let the guy who does this section, and he will have the figure set aside for you tomorrow." I came back and they were no longer on the shelf.  Sad

9  The Collector's Life / The Pegs / Re: TRU Exclusive Green Lantern Repaint on: May 29, 2010, 01:27:13 pm
I like the paint as well, although for some reason I like the original head better in that side by side pic

Some truisms there. My mother has a lot of sayings, but two that stand out in this discussion are "You pay peanuts, you get monkeys" and "Happy cows produce more milk".

Some down-home wisdom from old Ma Shake,i like it!

You know, and this comes from experience,if you have an Employee that shows a bit of initiative then you reward and encourage them.It really works wonders. The trick is to find someone that can be arsed to show said initiative so you can reward them.
Therein lies the conundrum. Undecided

There is definitely that, I am am in no way saying that all employees are virtuous and customers are the 'bad guy', I have had plenty of employee's thrust upon me in the past, both new and experienced, that were useless.
11  Action Figure Blues / Fanboy Free-for-all / Re: Slappable Shop Assistants on: May 28, 2010, 03:31:21 am
So, since there was no one else around, I looked her straight in the eye and said: "They're blank actually. I like recording my own pornography. Usually they're snuff films."

Cheesy You've been hanging around FMS too much.

You found a pet peeve of mine right there.Nothing i hate more than nosy people that i don't know and they don't know me,especially shop assistants.I'm usually that short and dismissive with them that they get the hint real quick.Friendly conversation is fine just mind your own fucking business and i'll mind mine.

<resisting comment>

Once upon a time in a galaxy far, far away, there were clerks and shop assistants who knew what they were doing. They understood their stock, knew how to communicate and often went above and beyond. Sadly, I think 98% of retail is now students who simply don't care because they think they're gonna be someone with that arts degree or people who are simply too useless to do anything else.

I rented some movies the other day and the cost was $12.50. Having an abundance of $2 coins I gave the girl a $20 note and two $2 coins for a total of $24. I figured that in the $11.50 change I'd be happier with the $1 and 50c which I'd put in the car for meters. The girl was absolutely perplexed, she tried really hard to pretend she could work it out but in the end I had to step her through it. She handed me some change and when I looked it was $9.50. A $5 note, two $2 coins and a 50c piece. She had shorted me $2. I told her and she gave me the extra $2 and I ended up with more coins than I started with!!!!

Occasionally you come across a really good one and you just want to shake their hand and say "Wow! Just wow!

I think it comes into the realm of you get what you pay for, not you personally but the large companies that run so much of retail. You just cannot expect to get great employees for crap pay. Sometimes you do, most often not, but those people are often the ones that either move on quickly or just get beaten down with the crap they have to put up with. Maybe if when someone got good service they actually acted appreciative of the good service, it might make the difference. Thats where the problem comes from, almost no one is willing to express appreciation for anything short of astronomical levels of brown nosing. A customer can come in and get everything they wanted, maybe more, all from a friendly employee and at best you get a blaise 'thanks.' But dog forbid you do not have something in stock or address that as madam instead of miss and well, they are only too happy to express their dis-satisfaction. While I cannot be bothered when a customer is un-happy, that could easily affect the less confident.

I believe it was the Pied Piper during Countdown who said that the worst thing ever bestowed upon the customer was the mistaken illusion that they are ALWAYS right.

Maybe she thought you were cute? Dunno, I know that a lot of places like that, especially places that push 'customer service' tell their employees to make each transaction personal on some level. Oh well, I would have loved to see the girls face, probably traumatised for life. Smiley
13  Action Figure Blues / Fanboy Free-for-all / Re: Some people just plain suck!!! on: May 15, 2010, 01:41:14 pm
